Sofia the First, Secret Library continued

This section, of Sofia's journey through a magical tunnel was extremely fun to color script. The storyboards are by Aldina Dias.  Sofia journeys through other Disney princess realms and I matched the color, lighting, and props to create several worlds that she drifts through.  We imagined that this would be a great Disneyland ride.  Copyright Walt Disney Co.

Sofia the First, Winter's Gift episode

Storyboards by Eugene Salandra and Lonnie Lloyd

Color script from Winter's Gift Episode.  I used colors from Disney's bambi for this episode.  Copyright Walt Disney Co.

Sofia the First - The Princess Stays in the Picture

A color script of a song sequence.  The princesses jumped into different paintings in this episode and wandered around in that world for a while. One of my sequences was the Van Gogh painting.

Sofia the First - The Curse of Princess Ivy

Color Script from a sequence in The Curse of Princess Ivy episode.  The tent layout is by Colette VanMierlo.  I was aiming for a dramatic look with Amber's attempt at stealing Sofia's amulet.

Sofia the First - The Floating Palace

This is an example of what the storyboards look like when I get them and then what I create with color and lighting.

These are colorscripts from The Floating Palace episode.  The top is an example of the storyboards I receive prior to designing the color and lighting.  The bottom panel is a song sequence.  I studied the colors of Disney's Pinocchio for the under-the-sea scenes.  All images copyright Walt Disney Co.

Sofia the First

I worked on Sofia the First at Disney TV Animation from 2011-2017.  My title was Lead Painter, but I did everything from visual development, color scripting, art direction to background painting. Many episodes had a unique style and the winter episode from the first season had an Eyvind Earle feeling.
The storyboards above were done by Eddie Houchins.  I color scripted this episode, and painted the lower background pan.
